i have a 2500k and a gtx690. when the 880 comes out im thinking i will probly go ahead and sell the 690 and get an 880, even if its a hair slower. so my question is, should i upgrade my mobo and cpu as well or is a 2500k still pretty solid for gaming? just wondering if i should start saving and looking now since the 880 is around the corner

Solution
The 2500k is just as good as a Haswell chip in terms of overclocking, and due to the small difference between CPU generations, you could OC it more than Haswell and get better or equal performance. The GTX 690 is good, too. We need to see the 880 benchmarks in order to recommend an upgrade or not, but the 690 is perfectly fine in most cases.
I have a i5-2500K in another rig and I can't really find a reason to upgrade it. I think in total you'd be lucky to get 15% more.

I might change my mind later this year when the newer processors with DDR4 memory comes out, but mostly for the SATA improvements on the new Chipsets.

I have the Asus p8p67 with a hyper 212 cooler I believe. And I used that arctic silver compound. Seems like I should hit 4.5 easy but I don't think I had some settings right in the bios

That is good, you could easily get to maybe 4.5 at 1.3-1.35. Try doing that in the BIOS.
