Ok so I am about to do a new os install on my fireds new ssd, but he uses multiple drives in his rig. He has a ssd for games and a raided set of HDDs for data storage (ie word docs, powerpoints). I have done a thousand installs before but never a swap like this. So when i do the install and reconnect the HDDs (data storage drives) will it be prompted to re-format or will all the data remain?

More about : ssd swap

Disconnect the data cables from whatever has the OS on it. and otherwise proceed as normal. It will need to see the RAID storage drives in order to install the drivers for it so don't disconnect those.

I assume data is on RAID 1 array ?

If they ain't there , I don't think you will be able to install RAID drivers for the new OS.

yeah if your transferring from the raid then you need to keep it in. Sorry about my last post just a mistake.
