I'd definitely go with Intel. True the FX-6300 would beat most i3's in gaming, however I've somehow managed to squeeze in an i5 for your budget. I'd buy the following using the coupon codes to get them all for a total of $507.73, and you'll get a major bang for your buck!

I put a lot of thought into this. This isn't very upgradable yet, but it is a solid build that can run games pretty well on lower-medium settings.

Do you already have what you mentioned above, the AMD CPU, RAM and GPU? If not, then I would recommend you go down the Intel route, otherwise if you already own the above then the following should meet your requirements:

I've included another 4GB RAM module so you can have a total of 8GB. The motherboard I've selected supports your FX-6300 processor straight out of the box (no BIOS updates required), alongside all SATA 3 ports and USB 3.0 header support. The power supply I've selected should be beyond satisfactory to consider future upgrades.

Again if you already have the AMD CPU, I'd go with the above otherwise, I'd go with Intel. If you don't have the above and are willing to adopt Intel, please reply back and I'll curate a list of components within your budget.

All the best. :)

Yes, Intel is good, but depending on your price bracket and budget, AMD might be better. For gaming, an FX-6300 would beat the similarly priced Core i3 in any situation.

The GTX 560 is indeed an elder GPU, but for your budget it's an astonishing card which supports DX11 and will support DX12 too. With all the cuts I've made, I've also selected an Intel i5-4430 processor which handles games like a champ. 8GB RAM is ideal for heavy gaming but again, due to the budget I've only managed to select 4GB; regardless an entire system which includes an i5 + GPU for $500 is no small feat IMO.

I'd purchase the above and you should be all set. Click the first link, "PCPartPicker part list" above to view the coupon codes.

All the best. :)
