can I use any model power supply for any computer?

I'm working on beefing up my computer and I just got a new graphics card but my power supply doesn't give enough power. So before I get a new power supply I want to know if I can just go out and buy any or do I have to look for a specific one that will be compatible with my mother board?

Yes you can get anyone that fits in your case and provides the power needed. What is your GPU?

I also recommend any PSU from Corsair( don't go for the CX Series), EVGA, Seasonic, Thermaltake and Antec are one of the best.

The majority of pcs use atx. But longer atx psus may not fit smaller cases. Some also use proprietary psus, even though they are the same size as atx, so fitting the case is not the only consideration. What is your pc model?
