Dear List,

We are 5-10 web designer group do only <advertising link removed by moderator> and development.

We have very low budget to built a web server.

We required 1 TB of storage, mirroring and LAMP so please suggest hardware like RAM, HDD, SMPS, Motherboard etc.

We do not do Gaming or Videos.

I have just came up with this hardwares** but has lots of confusion. Is there any inbuilt motherboard with RAID?

Is there any online step by step Linux configuration tutorial with RAID and mirroring ?

Can I ask why mirroring is a requirement? I ask because many people make the mistake of confusing RAID and backup. A RAID system is not a replacement for a good backup strategy, which I would have thought was important for your business.

Personally I would go for a system without a RAID card running FreBSD and using the ZFS file system. This makes a very versatile, stable server and the performance of ZFS "RAID" is as good as, if not better than, hardware RAID.

If your requirement is high availability, then two cheaper computers in a redundant cluster would probably be better than one super beast with RAID.
