How can I fix a 8gb usb became 4gb and I can't insert or copy any files in it?

I formatted my 8gb flash drive and when I tried to insert some videos it won't copy and it shows that my flash drive is only 4gb left. how did this happen? then I tried refomatting it again it still shows 4gb and when I insert files again, even if it's only megabytes., it saids that I need an additional space even though there's no files and hidden files in it. Please help!

Make sure you format as Fat32, with allocation set to 8192mb. Also, if there's nothing on it you want, try a full format (which may take a little longer) by unchecking the "Quick Format" box. Let me know how you go.

What type of file system have you tried, NTFS or FAT32? You can format this drive and take chances with FAT32 file system.
Back up your drive files well before you fix this drive.
