So I recently decided that I would like to add a 2nd 680 to compliment the first one I had since the first one I had is a 4GB card I spent weeks checking ebay and gumtree to find a suitable second card but when one arose for a really good price I couldn't help myself it is a 2GB card.

I have read so many forum threads articles and any other query on running two different memory sized cards and all their responses were "You will lose performance if you do that" so before you comment this I really don't mind the 4GB card running with 2GB or one card being slowed down because in reality 2x 2GB GTX 680s running at the same settings is still more power then a single GTX 680.

So the issue I am having is it doesn't matter how I install my drivers or video cards I can never see the SLI, Phsyix, Surround option with the bridge on the video cards.
If I use the coolbits registry fix and set the value to 18 when I restart my computer I have the option of SLI in the nvidia control panel only downside is when I launch any full screen program the screen stays black and I get 0/1 FPS it's so bad I can't alt + f4 or ctrl atl del to get out I need to power off and back on.

BUT I have managed to get SLI to work with both cards by installing nvidias 310.24 drivers the only difference is that in SLI it performed 400 better then 1 card and 800 less then the other card

A really piss poor score for a bench mark for over $1000 worth of video cards.

I have tried installing 1 card loading windows and installing drivers
installed 2nd card no bridge loaded windows installed drivers
added bridge loaded windows and no sli.
doesn't matter which order i try this in or which slot either card is in the end result is the same even if i use an ealier driver to install the drivers sli is not an option.

I have never SLI'd before i have tried so many things i'll read someone's thread see what worked for them and try it for myself with no luck.

Computer specs-
Asus sabertooth x79 LGA2011
i7 3820 @ 3.60ghz
Asus Direct cu II GTX 680 4GB
Gigabyte Super Overclock GTX 680 2GB
Thermal take 800watt PSU sli ready

Please somebody help me I'd really like to have these 2 cards in SLI without having to fork out another $700 on a video card to have 1 of these sit by getting dusty.

so there is absolutely nothing i can do to get them to run in sli even if i am more then happy to have the 4gig card run with 2gig? is there a more stable way to force it sort of like what coolbits does but doesn't crash your system on application use?

Not unless you can write a better program, no.

that's so messed up discontinue a video card and all the only other ones kicking around 2nd hand are 2GIG cards so on top of being slapped in the face with an extra $200 on purchase of my 4gig card, i'm being kicked while i'm down for attempting to use a 2nd 680 following their "as long as the share the same chip set aka gtx 680 and gtx 680 you should be able to sli, no you can use a gt 680 and a gtx 680"
they should allow us to sacrifice vram's so we can sync cards to get a peformance not throw $1500 away to use the original 1 card we baught and to get an upgrade from performance is another minimum of $1500 and then that leaves these 2 cards sitting around doing sweet f a.

surely though there has to be something that can be done it can't just be a lost cause and a case of wasted money.
