This is what I'm building

Hadron air
i7 4790k
Z97i-plus
Hyperx 16gb 1600
evo 840 500gb
WD 4TB HDD
Firepro W7000

My question: I'm just about to buy the 4790k, but noticed you can buy it with a heat sink, and so I'm wondering if this heat sink will fit in my system. Does it connect to the mother board? and if so will it connect to the Z97i-plus?

I'm also thinking; that even if it does work in my system, is it worth buying? or just getting the processor alone and just buying another form of cooling like a noctua?

I'm still confused as to what I should do for cooling. The case has two exhaust fans on the top, but this isn't enough is it? What should I do? This is the final part I need to think about so I would greatly appreciate your help.

I may overclock at some point, but for a while I should be fine. You think I should get this package then?

My options are: 4790k with cooler -300 euro, or 4790k without -285 euro. So the cooler is just 15 euro extra for me. However, I could just get the CPU alone and purchase a Noctua for probably around 40 euro -so around 25 euro more than I would with the stock cooler.

What other noctua options do I have, which someone is sure that will fit? Or any other fans. Would be nice to get something a tad bit more attractive.

Appreciate you help

With ITX performance motherboards for Intel's latest processors the general consensus would agree that Liquid Cooling is the best way to go with your Config. there are a lot of good air coolers that you can use. The Hadron Air is versatile for both Air and Liquid. Though M-ITX Cases are generally not optimized for the best airflow. Though Phantek does have some low profile air cooling solutions i would not recommend them over the Noctua NH-L9i 95mm or something better from Noctua. they are like the pinnacle of Heatsink/fan design.

Thanks! -Looks much nicer. I'll look into some reviews of this one.

I'll keep this in mind regarding Noctua. Are you sure about liquid cooling? I thought the Hadron Air didn't support that type of cooling somehow?

Yeah they look much nicer. I study design engineering, so I'm stuck between aesthetics and practicality : )

Compared these two types of brands, and the specs of Noctua do look better. The NH-U9B SE2 for example has almost 10dB less than the Phanteks from that link.

What do you think to the NH-U9B SE2? Have people put this in the hadron air before? I had some guy saying that I may have to remove the small fan at the back of the case, which I don't understand.

Please can someone give me reassurance that the NH-U9B SE2 will be okay on my Z97i-plus? I'm guessing space will be tight, but I'll be getting low profile ram.

I'm wanting to build a really good work station, but I also do like to play the odd game.

Oh, ok. And as far as I know, there is a low profile Noctua cooler, forgot what it was called though.

This is my second choice. I chose the NH-U9B SE2 because it's more quiet and I think it does a better job. There is a few people online who have done a successful build with it, so I think I'll take the risk. If it doesn't work then I'll go with the one you recommend.

Can I ask you, what else do I need to make this build now? I have all the main components, but do I need to purchase any cables or anything to put the parts together?

The only thing I can see that I need to buy is a display port to hdmi convertor as the monitor doesn't support display port.

Also, I need to install windows, but how do I do this on a blank evo 840 ssd?

Sorry for the additional questions.

You can get braided cables for the psu to make the cables look better, have you considered lighting? Like led's etc. You might want to get a anti static wrist band, they will be good for a first time builder, I'd recommend you boot up the pc with just the ssd in it, then once you have your os installed, shut down and install hdd

Is an antistatic wrist band really necessary?
