external harddrive question

Hello so i was copying files from laptop to harddrive and then my harddrive disconnected midway so the transfer got canceled are my files safe? I mean i dont mind the file that im copying but will my other files be okay?

i know the reason why it got disconnected my port is somewhat faulty so it got disconnected

They should be. Check what's on the hard drive.

No, you other files are not save, until you run a complete file system check on the drive. Reconnect the drive, right click on it in explorer, goto properties / tools and run the file system check.
