i ve recently bought a hp laptop (4th gen i3, 4gb ram, 1.7ghz, 500gb hard disk, windows 8.1).. i want to have an anti virus software for it... suggest me one... hows avast anti free download??.... will that do??..

Solution
Avast, Avira, AVG, Bit Defender, all free versions BUT only one, don't have more than one anti-virus on your computer,(I download from FileHippo)
I agree add MalwareBites and probably at least one other spyware remover.

DO NOT use AVAST! anymore. Since thier forums got hacked (which used the same ID / PW as your AVAST! registration) the product been not working well, and I been using it for years! Get AVIRA http://www.avira.com/en/download/product/avira-free-ant... (or go to www.filehippo.com and download Comodo/Panda or AVG. But no matter what download Malwarebytes do a full system scan (AV doesn't pick up alot of malware) weekly to monthly.

if i run an anti virus software, malwarebytes and a spyware removal such as norton eraser at the same time, wont it make ma computer slow...??... because free anti virus softwares alone cant do al these things ryt??

unless you buy malwarebytes, normally it would be 'manually' run, it doesn't have a automatic one. As for the norton remove it, it won't help. Malware performs social manipulation, that is, it presents itself in a way to convince you to do things ((This is the FBI Security Systems: Install this patch right now!! Windows Antivirus 2015 needs to scan your computer now (OKAY) )) that will cause the problems. Since Malware isn't actually a attack (Ebola, Cancer, etc. are 'viruses' that attack and damage you, same with computer viruses they 'attack' and damage the computer) AV can't "see" it and thus can't stop it from happening. Further as YOU are 'dumb enough' ((But the email said I Love You! What could be bad about that?)) to allow the Malware full permission to do what it wanted it has 'permission' and nothing the AV can do about YOU decisions.

As for slowing things down, that is a old XP/Vista I bought the cheapest crappiest low end PC and I dunno why I have problems issue. If you have the cheapest / lowest performance / over 5 year old computer yeah there will be a 'noticable' slowdown, but the malware/virus is more likely to be the one that slows down your computer / fill your screen with crap and make the PC 'crash' all the time before the ANTImalware / Antivirus had as much impact.
