I currently have one GTX 780 Ti 3GB, and I'm wondering what I should go graphics card-wise to make games playable at 4k, preferably on the highest settings possible.

Solution
Another GTX 780 ti :)
The GTX 780 ti is pretty much the fastest card on the market. The Titan cards might be better at 4k since they have a ton of VRAM. But you should wait until the GTX 800 series is released, then pick up a GTX 880 ti or something similar.

Get another 780 ti if your motherboard allows it and if your power supply allows it, If your power supply and motherboard allow it then I would go for 3 way considering if you have enough power, PCI-E Slots and Money

Wait a year for GPU hardware to catch up.

It seems that currently even with nVidia Titans and AMD 290xs 4K gaming is still cutting edge and can be difficult to get working. Gaming at 4K will often be at 30FPS no matter what GPU you have due to display restrictions.

However, if you have a lot of cash to burn and really want to, check out this article. The guy writing it seemed to enjoy his experience, though he wasn't spending any of his own money.

2 titans are only 0.5 fps higher on crisis 3 4k 4xMSAA than 2 780tis and titans are much more expensive, Also TheMattus would have to get rid of the 780ti and buy 2 new graphics card therefore being much more expensive, If you really really need the hardware now I would go for 3 way SLI 780ti, If you don't really really need it now then I would wait for the 800 series to arrive since they are going to be faster

Price is irrelevant for the most part for gaming @ 4k on current hardware. To play it smoothly you need the best hardware available and it's definitely going to be expensive. And the 3gb of VRAM might not be enough for SLI on a 4k monitor. That's why I said it'd be better to wait for the GTX 800 series.

That's why I said unless you really really need the hardware now for some reason then it is best to wait for the 800 series since the GTX 880 should be faster than a 780 and might be as fast or even faster than a 780ti
