I have a Dell Inspiron 3520 that recently took a little bit of water to the left side near the power button. I took the battery out and let everything dry out for 24 hours. The machine came back to life but not the keyboard. I was wondering if there was a fix to this problem or should I just give up. Thanks in advance.

Solution
Hi

I dont think 24 hours was long enough

Take battery out put in warm dry place for an other 2 or 3 days
Before trying again.

Was there any message from bios or windows about lack of keyboard

Problem could be keyboard controller on motherboard , wet connector for ribbon cable from keyboard to motherboard or the keyboard it self

Dry Rice is said to be able to extract moisture but makes a mess!

Keyboards can be replaced if necessary

After a drink was spilled I have washed a desktop keyboard under a tap with warm water and left it to drain
Then opened case and left to dry for a week before reassembling it
It worked ok

It just might be the keyboard bit the dust from getting wet, they usually do. Hopegully it's not the motherboard connection for the keyboard. You can order replacement keyboards, price varies a lot depending on model. Check out ebay and see if the cost is worth giving it a shot and the cost is worth spending on that laptop.
