My parents computer is currently extremely slow (still using ddr2 ram etc) I was thinking of taking out there hard drive and putting it into a new computer what I'm going to build for them. The build I have so far is as follows:

Intel Core i5 4440 Quad Core - £126 (is this overkill?)
ASRock H87M PRO4 Motherboard - £56
Corsair 200R Case - £45
HyperX 8 GB 1600 MHzDDR3 (2 x 4GB) - £63 (4gb might be enough though)
Corsair CX 430 Watt PSU - £38
LiteOn IHAS124-04 dvd drive - £12

Total £340

There hard drive is a 1tb 7200rpm and runs on vista. So I should be able to use that and put it into this new computer and run as normal, well thats the plan. Please any feedback would be greatly appreciated!!! Thanks in advance!

What will your parents do to it? Or do you occasionally use it for gaming? Since you didn't put a dedicated card I guess you're into light gaming. I suggest going with a 3rd gen i5 or i3 and 4gb as you said unless you're into a bit heavy video editing. 430 watts is a bit too much so maybe go for a 350 or 400.

Sorry I should have said, this computer is for them as I have already built my own gaming pc, they won't be doing anything too strenuous like gaming, just outlook, powerpoint, word etc. Oh i have that PSU as it was the cheapest bronze rated power supply.

In that case then go with 4gb and get a haswell pentium (G----). They're so cheap and you could overclock the multipliers with a z87 board or some asus b85 boards(forgot the exact name. just tell me if you want to know.) and have the same performance as an i3. My old 2gb ddr2 pentium e2160 running the mobo's integrated graphics can even be enough for the things your parents do. Costs about $200.
