Replace MB and Ram, but keep CPU?

I currently have a PC running a AMD PII X4 925 OCed @ 3.2GHZ. It's running on a Gigabyte GA-MA780G-UD3H mobo and 8GB of GSkill 8500 DDR2 ram. Really the only games I play is WoW and sometimes Skyrim. I have read that the PII X4 series was/is the best single thread cpu they have made. With that said, would it be my best option to just buy a newer mobo and ddr3 ram and keep my cpu?

You aren't really going to have any change in performance. This is a waste of time and money.

As k1114 said, there is really no point.
As long as you have a decent GPU you should be able to play those games at high or max.
