Hard shut downs with new CPU

Hello everyone,
I recently got a new CPU for my gaming PC but ever since I got it i've been having frequent hard shut-offs of my system, this occuring after running very performance heavy games for about 20-60 minutes; with not even a bluescreen displayed.

At first, I thought this was a heat problem so I bought a new CPU cooler to bring the temps down; so now when gaming my core temps are around 58 degrees and the socket temp is around 60-68 degrees. These temps being just under the max temp recommendation. Im wondering if this problem is due to a lack of power when the GPU is under heavy load. Im am unsure what the problem is, and any help is highly appreciated :)

My specs:

GPU: Nvidia Geforce GTX 770
CPU: AMD FX(tm)-8350 Eight-Core Processor,
RAM: 8GB Corsair Vengance
PSU: Corsair CX750
OS: Microsoft Windows 8.1

Okay. Tell me more about your hard shutdowns. When? How?

These shut downs happen after around 20-60 minutes of running a demanding game, in which I am presented with a black screen for about a second; then the pc restarts. Whilst this happens, temps stay below the recommended temps.

Okay. I do think there is something wrong with your motherboard BIOS chip. Or something that has to do with the bios. Have you played around in the BIOS and didnt realize that you clicked on anything. Try back tracking. Figure out what the problem is. Upadate firmware for an SSD, if applicable.

Okay, I will check, as I recently updated the BIOS and something may have been changed.

Thank you for that, I have followed the steps; reset the BIOS and uninstalled any problematic utilities, I'll see how it goes on. Thanks for the help :)

Yeah, that seems to be evident, will it be due to the 4-pin cpu connection on my current board, will I need one with an 8-pin connection, to provide sustenant power?

if you have 8 pins on you mobo connect all 8. That motherboard does support the FX series, you just need to update your BIOS. 14.01 or higher :)
