Recently my mom needed a flash drive to print files at a friends house. I gave her some 512 mb drive I had and made sure it was working before I gave it to her (it was). But after plugging it into her PC the drive went completely dead, it doesn't even work on my PC anymore. So I thought that it was a bizarre coincidence so I gave her my 8 gb drive and boom, that one it dead too. Could her PC be infected with a virus that corrupts flash drives to the point that they can't even be picked up?
Luckily neither drive had anything on them, but now I'm scared of plugging anything in.

I think your mom's usb port aren't configured good by your BIOS. Maybe it was to much voltage or very low voltage configuration on your mom's BIOS that caused the problem
