I got a new CPU(4790k) and motherboard(Asrock Z97 Pro4), but now my computer keeps freezing whenever I do anything. It eventually comes back, but takes a few minutes. Could it maybe be the drivers?

Did you do a fresh install of the OS on the SSD/HD?

I would reset the cmos on the board. Also check the CPU temp in the UEFI(bios) when you are booting.

I just upgraded my computer with the 4790K and an ASUS MB. I had a lot of trouble but have finally sorted it out. Fantastic CPU. Running at 4.6ghz on an H100i.

I didn't do a fresh install (ssd 128G boot + 1tb hard drive). I have been monitoring the temps and they haven't gotten over 50C. I did go on the site and reinstalled all of the drivers they had listed, I'm going to see if that fixes my problem. Also, since you have overclocked this CPU, where do you think I could get it with an H50?

Not sure with H50. I think 4.4GHZ is safe. I get into the mid-upper 70's C using Intel Burn test at 4.6. I started getting BSOD's a couple days ago. My temps had creeped up. I took off the cpu heatsink and found I had used too much paste. re-did the paste(Noctua) and temps are back down. No more BSOD's. As far as your problem goes I think you need to do a fresh install. I tried to not do a fresh install and it was a major fail.

I don't know, I just played a few games, and it didn't freeze up at all (after reinstalling all drivers). I hope I don't have to do a fresh install. Thanks for the advice though and if it happens again I will try reinstalling the OS.
