I recently did a custom build and since i got it up and running, i have been experiencing crashes frequenty while running certain programs.

cpu: AMD FX-9590 Vishera 8-Core 4.7GHz Socket AM3+ 220W Desktop Processor
mobo: ASUS Crosshair V Formula-Z AM3+ AMD 990FX + SB950 SATA 6Gb/s USB 3.0 ATX AMD Gaming Motherboard with 3-Way
memory (x2): G.SKILL Ripjaws X Series 8GB 240-Pin DDR3 SDRAM DDR3 1333 (PC3 10666) Desktop Memory Model F3-10666CL9S-8GBXL
gpu: Asus R9 280x
ssd (with os): SAMSUNG 840 EVO MZ-7TE120BW 2.5" 120GB SATA III TLC Internal Solid State Drive (SSD)
hd: WD black caviar 7200rpm 1TB (for files and larger games installed)
cpu heatsink: Phanteks PH-TC12DX_RD Dual 120mm PWM CPU Cooler
PSU: LEPA MaxBron B1000-MB 1000W ATX CrossFire 80 PLUS BRONZE Certified Active PFC Power Supply

CPU TEMP: 7-20 (idol), 40-65 (stress) have the above mentioned heatsink with two fans
GPU TEMP: 20-30(desktop), 55-70max (gaming)
nzxt case came with 4 fans as well.

It has never crashed while i use smaller programs but when i use programs like battlefield 4, titanfall, ableton live 9, photoshop, and even watching movies on chrome. 99 percent of the time the computer just freezes completely making me put it into force shutdown. Other times it will just crash and give me a blue screens such as:

- IRQ_NOT_LESS_OR_EQUAL
- DRIVER_IRQ_NOT_LESS_OR_EQUAL
- DRIVER_OVERRAN_STACK_BUFFER
- SYSTEM_THRED_EXCEPTION_NOT_HANDLED (atikmdag.sys)

i did a memtest and no errors after 4 passes. how would i go about reinstalling gpu driver if i have no onbaord video on the mobo. i had someone do this step for me when i got it. i have a usb stick that i can use. and i have win 8.1

The lack of drivers won't prevent the system to properly turn on and give you signal, it will just run in a low resolution until drivers are reinstalled/updated.

You can run the drivers directly from within windows so no need for a usb pendrive, just download the appropriate latest drivers for your video card from amd's website.

im pretty sure i can only access bios if i delete my video card driver, especially since i dont have an oboard video card on the mobo.

(x2): G.SKILL Ripjaws X Series 8GB

This item is not guaranteed to be compatible when mixed with another one. The (x2) indicates you are doing this.

Your RAM is also too slow DDR3 1333 (PC3 10666).

Supported memory for your CPU is DDR3-1866 with two DIMMS (a matched pair in a kit)
http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16820231460

1600 MHz speed is supported using four DIMMs.

I would say your two DIMMs are incompatible. You can do your own compatibility testing or buy a matched pair in a kit that is tested for compatibility at the manufacturer. Your part number is for a single stick so you may want to remove one.

interesting. i did not know that about ram. they did not come as a pair. but they are the same titem off newegg. i have done mem test flawlessly with no errors. does that mean anything? plus, i have removed one at a time and played around with different slots and it still froze up.
