Ok..... I'm running my 2500K at 5GHz with 2 R9 290x CF.
I want to replace my CPU with the new platform. The new 5960X is the "Extreme Edition". Does this mean it is overclockable or not? If not, does it really matter? My 2500K is awesome, but it hits 100% on all cores sometimes depending on what I'm doing. When I play BF4 maxed out at 2560 x 1440 and 120Hz the chip constantly hits 100% (No, I don't want to turn the settings down, or turn off my monitoring programs or TS). I think the 2 cards are too much for the chip sometimes.
I also plan a possible 3rd R9 in the future btw.
Ok let me have it........

Yes, will be fully overclockable. Any Intel X or K CPU has a fully unlocked multiplier. Ones without X or K can still be overclocked but only 4 bins above turbo (3.8Ghz to 4.2Ghz, 3Ghz to 3.4Ghz etc.) unless you raise voltage and start raising core clock where they can even go higher but at the expense of more heat.

Short version: Yes, it can be overclocked.
