Blackscreen restarts without crash dump

I assembled a computer yesterday and am having stability issues. Whenever I attempt to run Prime 95 or use Adobe Premiere, the computer black screens and restarts. The case is well-ventilated and HWMonitor clearly indicates this is not a temperature issue (~30 C). I have run Memtestx86 to no avail. I am at a loss and have had a video editing project dropped in my lap within the last half-hour that is due tomorrow (today by now) - and I can't use Premiere.

Any help is tremendously appreciated.

Post your build.

Download HWInfo an run Sensors. Post the results - usually 3 screenshots on TinyPic or similar.

Post your build.

Your CPU is over-volted - 1.437V. That's why your CPU is running so hot - 56C. And why your PC crashes.

Double check your Vcore in bios. Get it down to 1.20V.

Post back Vcore, Clocks and cpu temp - from bios/uefi.

CPU: i7 4790k
MB: Gigabyte Z97X-UD5H
GPU: Gigabyte GTX770 Windforce 400MB
Memory: G.Skill Ripjaw DD3-1600 PC3 12800 (16GB, but only 8GB are installed at present because I had deluded myself into thinking they were the issue.)

Getting the vcore, etc., as I can. Need more?

Have a lok at http://www.hardocp.com/article/2014/06/26/gigabyte_z97x...

where it says "The BIOS, like GIGABYTE’s overclocking desktop software, has some predefined "Upgrade" settings. Starting with the fastest "100%" I went for 4.7GHz/2133MHz at a fairly high 1.42v Core voltage. The system POSTED and loaded to the desktop perfectly, but as quickly as I could turn on the Prime95 torture test, the system BSODed."

Maybe you've done the same.

I haven't turned the settings to that, but perhaps they are defaulting there. When I set it to "20%", the core temperature stabilized much lower (~30 C) and the CPU is now maxing at ~1.2 V.

OK - try Adobe and see if it runs.

I just rendered a clip without issue. Things should be fine, and if there are further issues I have a handle on how to deal with them now.

Thanks so much.
