1300 Gaming Rig Advice and Tips

To be honest I have knowledge in building but have never built one before. Most if my friends have told me to build one so in two more or so weeks time I hope that the specs you see in my signature will be the build. :)

I noticed a couple changes you made to my setup. Are the Gigabyte GA-Z97X-SLI ATX LGA1150 Motherboard and the Asus MAXIMUS VII HERO ATX LGA1150 Motherboard comparable? I have read great things about the Asus Maximus. Would the i7 prove to be that much better of an upgrade?

If you don't want the i7, go back with the i5 which is an excellent budget CPU for gaming. But if you will be editing and things like that go with an i7.

The Maximus is a great and outstanding mobo but if you go with the i5 then get the Maximus. ;)

Based on my research I read the i5 is great for anything in terms of what I am buying the PC for. I do not do any editing (as of now). In your opinion is there any real difference between the two mobos that would affect me? Saving a 100 bucks is always nice :)

If you will be doing crazy overclocking then go with the Maximus. But if you are able to fork out an extra $100 I am not stopping you. :)

Yeah, that's what I mainly specialised on the forum just posting up builds for people. And if I can afford that it would probably be that. I am not just saying it as I am an avid Intek especially i7 fan.

I think I will be forking over about 100 bucks more and keeping the Maximus along with the build you put together. It may be a little pricy and over my budget at first but in the long run I think I will be happy with it. Thanks for the help. Excited about this!

Last question. I do plan on putting this bad boy together myself. I have done a bit of computer repair but never have put together a system from scratch. Any tips on that?
