Hello. I'm not a hardware guy so I'm hoping the community can help guide me here.

I'm interested in the Dell T320 PowerEdge server for the reason being I'd like to have more than 4 hard drive bays. What I would like to do is to have 3 standard hard drives, and then to put a RAID 10 using 5 hard drives.

Is this possible? (i.e., to use a combination of non-RAID and RAID 10 with the 8 hard drive bays)

I'm also concerned about the processor. I'm going to use this as a workstation and a file storage server at home. I'd like a multi-purpose device rather than getting multiple systems to save power cost.

Will the Xeon E5-2430L v2 processor be enough to handle this?

I like the lower power draw on this processor and the energy prices in HKG are expensive so I believe the energy savings will be worthwhile over the long-run vs. the comparable 80W processor.

Any other thoughts/suggestions?
