No HDMI signal from graphics card, only DVI. Fans only work with MSI afterburner.

Hi, I recently swapped my AMD radeon HD 6850 with a used R9 280x. It seems to work fine except that I can only get a display signal through a DVI to VGA adapter and not through the HDMI port. Also, the fans start during the BIOS but stop spinning in windows. However, they seem to work find when I set the fan speed in MSI afterburner. Could this be a driver issue? Do I need to update my BIOS?

Current specification are as follows:

Asrock z77 Extreme4
i5 3570k (stock clock)
Silverstone Strider Plus 600w 80+ Bronze
G. Skill Ram (4gb x 2)
Amd R9 280x

Thanks

Hi Rowdod.

Its very important that you uninstalled the old Ati driver on the system before you put your new R9 card in the Pci-E slot.
I hope you did that. because it will be the cause of the fan not spinning ect.
Until you go into Msi afterburner.
And also why your Hdmi does not output or work right.

Ok, I did remove the old drivers but I'm pretty sure the new graphics card was installed at the time. Should I take it out, remove all drivers, then put the graphics card in and then install the new drivers? Thanks
