Buying new graphics card(s). heard that the 770's in sli r better than 280x's so the question is; should i get one 780 Ti or two 770's in SLI. Im gonna be playing in 1080p on a 144Hz monitor that i hope to get the most out of. wich option would be the best for me? i dont care about noise and have great air cooling.

And wich brand should i buy?... looking to overclock the GPU(s)

The best would be 770 in SLI as you are going to be playing at 144Hz. Don't forget you need at least 800-850W PSU. Bronze should be good enough. ;)

The 770 in SLI will be a great choice if you can spend on two cards band will be also great for the long run.

The best option, IMO, is to get the best single card. Less headache/hassle. I've done SLI in the past. Heat and game driver support are both major issues. PSU requirements must also be considered.

Well exactly noice, temps, power consumption and the lack of VRAM are some of the bigger drawbacks, but since that doesn't seem to be an issue for you since you're gaming at one 1080p monitor so 2GB VRAM is enough, doesn't case about noise and has a good airflow. Just remember to get a 750w or higher PSU for this.

You can use this list to find a good psu, i would look at the XFX XXX series, but anything down to Tier Two Class B is recommended from here! ;)

SLI are NEVER good on single displays (except 4k) and can even perform worse than a single card. A GTX 780 Ti will give your 80+ FPS on Ultra on any latest titles on FHD. You don't really need a 770 SLI, waste of money for a single 1080p. On 1080p, even a Titan Black can't beat the 780 Ti! 3GB VRAM will suffice for your display.

Just get a good 780 Ti (MSI/ Asus/ EVGA) and you'll be good to go on that display on ultra for 5 years straight :)

single 780 ti for stability and less hassle, not to mention you may have to get a bigger watt psu and if your moterhboard runs at x16 x8 or x16 x4

Don't listen to these guys. Get the 770s, you'll outerperform a 780 by about 30% plus you can OC them. A good 750w will do just fine. I got a pair of 760s 4gb in SLI. Best purchase ever, 120 FPS BF4 maxed, SLI has no issues, and the only game where the didn't work for me was GTA 4, but they are amazing and 20% faster than a 780ti for less $.

760s 4gb in SLI + OC are the cheapest and better option for your needs. Will easily get 144 FPS maxed on just about every title. I've experienced them first hand.

Also, don't go for AMD. Terrible experience with them, just purchased a pair of 290s absolute garbage, returned them.
Get the 760s or 770s if you think you need them. You won't regret it. I'm going to get a pair of 780s tomorrow.

hahahaa lol... dont listen to these guys. smh.

a single 2880 core gk110 with a modest 1200mhz overclock will match sli reference clocked 1536 core gk104s and do to it consuming 40-50% less power and much less heat. you dont ever buy two cards at the same time to sli/cfx if there is already a card in a much higher tier. sli 780s/290s is more than fine... but not 760s/770s... UNLESS you already own one and only if it is a 4gb model. the 4gb models are the only gk104s that are worth running in sli, and their price is so close to the 4gb r9-290(which is considerably faster) that there is absolutely no logic in it.

and i just saw the gigabyte windforce 290 for sale the other day for $349 which would make it only $20-40 more than a 2gb 770, and at that price it is just too hard to come to terms to buy a paltry 2gb 770, let alone a much slower 4gb 770 for more.

Well, two 770s are basically no different than a 690 in termos of performance, just clocked a bit higher.
One 690 is a bit better than 780ti on some games (sometimes more than "a bit").
Performance wise, two 770s would be better.
But I don't believe that performance, raw fps, is the only thing to take into account. SLI has some issues, and the heat and psu requirements aer important as well... Also, if you choose the 780ti you might even get a second 780ti on the future (in case games become more demanding or you get more monitors/higher resolutions), so that you would have a very high end sli setup.
