Bad Ethernet Connection - MSI

Essentially I'm stuck with an awful ethernet connection. I don't know if the drivers are to blame or the ethernet port itself.

I have a new MSI Z97 Gaming 5 and I'm getting roughly 5 down, 5 up and 200ms ping. my normal speed on my laptop, even on wireless, is 30 down, 8 up, and 11-27ms ping. I even tried the ethernet connection on my laptop (both going through the TP-Link Powerline adaptor) and even then it was mid 20's down and about 7 up with respectable ping.

So the problem seems like it's my ethernet port itself or the drivers. I've used Killer Cleaner and updated the Killer Network Manager but still no luck.

Any help with this problem would be appreciated, thanks. :(

Killer nic e2200? They've had problems. Us wifi instead. Or get another ethernet card.

Try a driver from here -

it is possible to install the driver only for the killer adapter (without the software).
https://dl.dropboxusercon...E2200%20Win7%20x64.rar

extract the rar and remember the location
uninstall the killer network manager software (you will lose wired internet connectivity)
restart the machine
go to your device manager and look for the unknown device with the yellow icon
right click and click update driver, choose to pick the location yourself and point it to the folder that you extracted the rar into. you dont need to pick an individual file, it will let you choose a directory

The link doesn't work for me, but I've found another thing.

https://forum-en.msi.com/index.php?topic=168097.0

I did that and my ping has improved dramatically. However it seems my download speed is still being limited to 5mbps. I suppose I'll try uninstalling the Killer Network Suite but I guess it'll also remove the driver I just installed. If it does I'll use your method. I have a different driver than the Killer NIC anyway so I probably don't need another link, unless that one is somehow special.

Thanks for the help so far.

Alright so all of the killer software is gone (uninstalled and killer cleaned) but my upload speed will not pass 4.91mb. Ping is fine and upload is fine but the download is not. I currently have the Qualcomm Atheros AR8161/8165 PCI-E Gigabit Ethernet Controller (NDIS 6.20) as my netowrk adapter.

At this point, I'm probably going to return it and ask for a refund or exchange for a different brand. One of the levers on the DIMM slots was made of awful plastic and snapped anyway so there's enough of a reason there.

I'm basically at breaking point so unless you can lob me a hail mary that's what's going to happen. Thanks.

Ok so somewhat interesting breakthrough, the same 5mbps limitation is apparent with my laptop when plugged into my powerline adapter. However once plugged directly into the router I get 37 down.

I'll plug my PC directly into the router and see if that solves it.

Right, more interesting findings. Initially when plugged into my router the speeds were perfect. However, as I found with the powerline adapter, the speeds deteriorate over time. Now down to 33ms ping, 8 down, 8 up, from 15ms ping, 37 down, 8 up.

I think I'll return the board and ask for a refund if possible. I'd rather not have to deal with a similar replacement model.

Yeah, I've sent a returns form so we'll see. I'm almost certain I'll get a replacement and be faced with the same problem again. I'll probably end up getting a wi-fi usb to avoid the problem altogether like you suggested.
