I am planning to buy this ASUS R7 265 GPU. My main use will be for 3D modeling and 3D rendering using its powerful OpenCL code.
I bought an old ASUS P5Q Pro Turbo, an intel Core 2 Quad Q9650C CPU, 16GB of RAM, and the usual optical drive, PCIe card reader 2 SATA SDDs,a couple of PATA HDD, and maybe a sound card in the future. The thing is they say you need a 500W PSU minimum for this GPU, so if I decide to do a Crossfire, am I gonna need a 1000W PSU? What do you experts recommend me for a good PSU?
And, do you think this old CPU will handle a Crossfire setup?

I don think a Crossfire is a sensible choice as you can bottleneck your CPU. So just stay with a single card for know and go with a 500-550W PSU.

But if you plan to crossfire then upgrade your CPU when you have the money. :)

I am no expert and very curious about how my system works, so, how can an old LGA775 CPU can't handle a Crossfire setup even if the MoBo is made for Crossfire?

The Video cards have evolved BEYOND the strength of the older CPU's.

Like SR-71 Blackbird it has evolved. But you can use an older one like. But you can coresfire a AMD 5850 which suits it I think according to some research.
