It should play most everything that's out now maxed or close to it, depending on what resolution you want to use. That combo will really shine if you're willing to overclock the CPU and GPU. Some badly optimized newer titles like Watch Dogs may give it a hard time, but WOT will run just fine. I have an old rig with a Phenom II x4 965 stock clocks, and an HD 7850 and it runs WOT completely maxed out @ 1600x900, never dips below 30 fps. Your suggested combo will be faster than that old rig by a fair margin.

I'd stay away from the new Pentium. It's basically a watered down Haswell CPU that is unlocked. While it can hit insanely high clocks, a few reviews so far showed that it has a very hard time with lag and stutter, even at above 4 GHz...

It's possible that 2 cores with 2 threads just isn't enough for modern games anymore. My take on Intel is if you want one of their CPU's for gaming, get a Haswell I3 or faster. Anything lower than that just isn't worth it. On a side note, it's really too bad Intel can't release an unlocked I3, that would be a killer budget CPU.
