MSI GTX 770 vs Evga GTX 770

I am thinking of buying one of these cards. I am having a hard time deciding between the two, however.

Of most of the reviews I have read, the Evga card seems to pull ahead by a few FPS in every game, and sometimes the gap is much bigger. The problem is that I don't know if the MSI card was being run in it's factory OC mode or not during these tests.

Comparing clocks, the Evga is a bit slower, but only if the MSI card isn't running in OC mode; otherwise it is always faster. The Evga also has a slightly better warranty of 3 years, instead of the 2/3 year MSI warranty (2 years labor). The Evga card also comes with a $20 MIR.

My friend has the MSI card (I installed it), and it seems like a great card. He loves it, but I don't know which one to buy.

If anyone has any experience with these cards, please post.

the msi twin frozr cooler is slightly better than the evga acx cooler. both cards are great and the two most popular options for nvidia cards. all things being equal... evga has legendary warranty, support, and customer service.... so i would go with them. the msi model has a custom pcb while the evga is still a reference pcb with the acx cooler strapped on. if their both the same price, i would go evga, but really whichever is cheaper is fine. the msi card is clocked about 40mhz higher out the box... but you can likely overclock both to about 1200mhz no problem.

evga makes decent to top quality power supplies, all depends on the models. look at reviews like johnnyguru, he is pretty much the go to power supply review expert.

Exactly which models please? Generally, I prefer and recommend EVGA cards. They run faster with more room for overclocking, their ACX cooling tech is good. Yup, some times under load they can be noisy but not that much and most of all their customer support service is superb. They are very responsive, spontaneous and accurate.

EVGA SuperClocked w/ ACX Cooling 02G-P4-2774-KR and MSI Gaming N770 TF 2GD5/OC.

From what I have seen, both of these cards are pretty quiet. Anandtech managed to get the EVGA card to 47dBA, but even that isn't very loud. The MSI (lighting version) was about 44dBA, so this version of the card is probably pretty similar. Most other reviews put both cards at about 40dBs under load.

I have also heard good things about EVGA's customer service.

Off topic a bit, but do you have any experience with EVGA psu's? I'm looking for a good psu (probably 750w or close), that is modular and not too expensive. I've been looking at this EVGA SuperNOVA 750 B2 80 PLUS BRONZE Certified 750W psu. I think I would like to go a little higher end, but try to stay below $110 dollars or so. This one does have some good reviews, though.

I'll probably go with the G2, unless I can find an equally good psu for cheaper. Amazon currently has the G2 for $115 with a $10 MIR, which is cheaper than Newegg.

I'll probably go with the EVGA card. Although the MSI has a slightly higher clock speed, most reviews seem to show the EVGA as a bit faster. Plus, like you said, EVGA has a great warranty.

Both cards are the same price, but EVGA has a $20 MIR, and five eggs on Newegg (slightly better reviews than the MSI).

I'm using EVGA cards since long before that I had used many other cards. EVGA cards have never given me any complaint. Comes in good packing. Perform right out of the box without any tuning. And like I mentioned earlier that their customer support service is excellent. Currently I'm using EVGA GTX 780Ti SC. This card is still not available in my region. Only Gigabyte and Asus cards in 780Ti series are available here. But I waited till the opportunistic moment and had that card bought from Microcenter, USA by my colleague and he brought it here while coming back.

Quite a story! But then that wait was worth for. Card performed right out of the box. I've OCed it to 1223MHz on previous drivers, current drivers are giving me pain.

Anyhow, long story cut short, grab EVGA card here.
