hello fellas. i need a piece of advice here.

Overclocking up to 4.5ghz 8-12hours a day

workstation pc. doing a lot of 3d modeling and rendering.
softwares: Revit, 3ds max, autocad.

im on a budget now. but i want to spend it on a good cpu and mb. and upgrade later if i have the budget again.

1st build is (intel): spending more to a great cpu and mobo. and spend less on gpu for now to fit my budget. and upgrade later on for a better gpu.

CPU: i7 4770k
MB: Asrock z87 Extreme 4
COOLING: Noctua NH-D14
RAM: Ripjaws x 16 2x8gb 1600
HDD: Seagate Barracuda 1tb
SDD: Sandisk ultra+ 128gb
GPU: HD 7870 ( i know this gpu is kinda old, but ive read that it can give performace, ill buy an already used gpu from a trusted seller for $134.)*note: price is converted to dollar from php.)

other options for gpu to fit the budget based on our country price are:
560ti
r7 260x

2nd build (amd): spend less on a decent cpu (fx8350) and and a great mobo. and have a great gpu (r9 280x)

CPU: FX 8350
MB: Gigabyte GA-990FXA-UD3 Rev 4
cOOLING: Noctua NH-D14
GPU: r9 280x
RAM: Ripjaws x 16 2x8gb 1600
HDD: Seagate Barracuda 1tb
SDD: Sandisk ultra+ 128gb

I'm confused that if i go to my build. i may suffer to gpu performance but i can upgrade it later if i do have the budget.

if i go to my amd build. i will have a great cpu, gread mobo, and a great gpu.

question is:

1.)what are your suggestions? go to plan 1 or plan 2?

2.)Which of the two build will perform better in 3d modeling?

hope for your replies guys.

thanks tomshardware

i7 is way out of the league than the fx 8350 .........there is no competition between them and the price is also double.....and if u are into animation then always go for i7 ....go for the first build except the gpu the first built is way better than the second....

You can compare the two CPU's for different tasks at this place: http://www.anandtech.com/bench/product/697?vs=836

As the other posters say, the i7 4770k is faster than the fx 8350 on most tasks. However if your rendering software can utilize the GPU for rendering that may change the game in favour of the fx 8350 build.

The best thing you can do is ask this question on the autodesk forums: http://forums.autodesk.com/
There is a lot more people who knows the software there.
