I upgraded from an older motherboard to a asrock z97 pro, and now any time i load windows it crashes and reboots just as the windows logo starts to move, i can still load the hardrive and its fine on the old hardware but not the new

every solution i have found for this problem all say to reinstall windows witch i cant do

is this a mobo driver issue? and if so is it possible to install the drivers needed and uninstall my old drivers?

If you cant load, you HAVE to reinstall windows. Or at least try a different harddrive that has windows on it. Why can you not reload windows?

Additionally you could try to put that harddrive into another computer to boot off of. If it boots you could wipe your mobo drivers and try again with the first computer.

Buy a $25 250gb hdd and reload windows onto it. boot off of that and youre set. load drivers onto the 250gb and you should boot fine. Cheap attempt at repair.

Ive never tried and am not positive this will work.

Plug hdd into another computer. Go to disk management. then i believe you can create a partition (by shrinking the current one) on a free portion of the hdd. not positive though. Then install windows on the new partition

if i did that would i be able to run things off the other partition and not have an impact on speed and performance?

Unsure but i would guess you'd lose a little speed
