CPU Overheating: Possible problem with Closed Loop Liquid Cooling (SilverStone Tundra)?

Hi! Help and thoughts much appreciated:

My CPU is reaching 65 / 70 Celsius temperatures when the load reaches +30%. The ambient temps are 15/20 degrees. The entire system is under a year old and I clean regularly.

I've reapplied the thermal paste several times using some different methods with no real impact. I thought that the cooler perhaps wasn't getting enough voltage so I've switched the power supply from a fan header to connecting directly to the PSU. But this hasn't had an effect.

(I've also doubled checked the CPU cooler fans are facing the right way. They are variable speed and hit over 2000 rpm when my cpu heats up).

I'm wondering whether there could be a problem with the cooler? This is the hardware:

CPU: i7 4770k at stock settings
Cooler: SIlverStone Tec Tundra TD03
Case: Silverstone SG10
Motherboard: Asus Gryphon with metal backplate

I'm at a loss with this issue and would really appreciate any advice.

Thanks in advance.
Daniel

Sounds like the pump is the issue, it could be failing or just weak.
What temp does the CPU get under max load? If its anything like 90°C then something is definitely wrong with the cooler.

Might want to start digging for the receipt as you might have to RMA it.

So if I understand it right. You have tried having the fans and the pump connected straight to the PSU? If you have not plugged the pump straight to the PSU try it. Allso have the radiator so that the connectors (liquid) are at the bottom. If you have it Up/Down mounted.

Thanks for your suggestions!

Yes, the pump is directly connected to the PSU. I've just tried changing the orientation of the radiator so that the pipe connections are at the bottom. Unfortunately it doesn't seem to have made a difference.

When I run stress tests on my CPU and hit those high temperatures there is no change in the temperature of the air coming from the back of the case where the CPU fans and radiator are positioned. Is that normal? I'd expect the air to increase in temperature at least a bit when the CPU gets hot.

I've run sensor tests with RealTemp and everything seems normal as far as I understand.

Hi, yes it is reaching 85/90 degree temperatures on maximum load. I'll speak to Silverstone and see what they say.

Thanks!
