Hi ,

i bought a whole new pc from 7 months

I5 4430 Haswell

Asus R9 270x OC 2GB

Gigabyte B85_HD3

Corsair CX750w

Cooling master k380

but the processor has a high temp in the idle mode " Chrome , kaspersky , idm etc.. "

Pics from hwmonitor , cpu z :

this screenshots from the idle mode with games Like watch dogs > 95 > 100 temp !

so i opened my case and check the heat sink and i found this

in this picture there is this black thing behind the cpu fan this was prevent the fan

from set correctly , but i wasn't know that , so last night i put it to the other direction

and the fan placed correctly but same problem

notes :

No Overclock

More about : cpu high temp high games

When using your computer to play games, you almost always want to get an aftermarket heatsink. Have you checked that the fan is spinning and that it spins faster as the cpu heats up? Now that you took off the heatsink, you might have air bubbles in the compound.

Do your fans spin? Do they spin faster as the computer gets hotter? Does your case have fans that pull in air into the case?

yes all fans working and there is 1 fan in the front

this fan i think its useless becuase there is no air in the front " small wholes " and lights

but im not sure if the fan spin faster or no i will try to check it

Like I said, you almost always want to get an aftermarket heatsink for your cpu for gaming. The fan is not useless, those holes are more than enough for your fan to draw in air from the outside.

Okay i will buy one but what do you think about this

when this black thing behind the fan is prevent the fan from set correctly this thermal paste doesnt spread

Really thx for your patient

I can't see what you mean by black thing, the picture isn't clear. I can see that the paste isn't really spreading like it should. If you have extra paste lying around put some on the heatsink while you wait for a new one but FISRT clean the heatsink and cpu completely and only put like a pea size of paste and do the same when you get a better one.

yes thats my point the thermal paste doesn't spread correctly because the motherboard thing was prevent

the fan from set right so this Piece of the thermal paste didn't spread on the processor

when i bought the processor i found three pieces like this the other 2 spreads this one not

it could be the problem , can i just spread it with plastic card on the processor

You could spread the compound but just make sure you don't get any air bubbles. That is weird, I've never seen a stock heatsink not fit properly on a motherboard. Good luck.

There is no certain way to prevent air bubbles when spreading, it's mostly luck. It's better if you just put a pea size in the middle and let the heatsink spread it.

okay i will try to do this but last question i have low budget now for the aftermarket heatsink and the thermal paste

can i buy low price or must be high price to fix the temp

like this one

Thanks for your help

I haven't used that the heatsink so I can't say if it's good or not. You can try and look at the reviews. A good budget heatsink is the cooler master hyper 212 plus(evo or non evo, there is no difference). I own it and it gets the job done. Some good brands are corsair, cooler master, and noctua.

Wow so the motherboard's VRM sink was actually blocking the standard intel CPU sink from seating properly. That is really bad. I would contact Gigabyte customer service and see if they can send you a compatible heat sink since they designed it wrong.

Yes Exactly i removed it from the motherboard then put it in the right way like the picture on Gigabyte site
