Here's my dilemma...

I just finished building my dream PC that I've been researching for a while now. I'm new to the hobby but a longtime lurker. Specs are listed below.

Currently I don't have the GPU because I'm waiting on the gtx 880 to come out soon (hopefully September-November??) I have heard the rumors about the specs and hopefully they are true.

However, waiting even a couple weeks is killing me, and I'm tempted to buy the Asus DC2 780 in the meantime to drive my Asus PB278Q 1440p monitor.

My questions are these...

- If I buy the gtx780, what is the resell market like? Are gpu's easy to sell to people? I assume I would only be using it under a year...
- How long does it take for non-reference cards to be available after a new graphic card series is released?
- When the hell is the 800 series going to be released? Is it better to wait and buy it after it has been out a couple months?
- What would you guys do in my situation? My end goal is to have a 880 sometime down the line, is it worth take a hit of money to resell the 780 in a couple months?

What would you guys do?

Thanks for the help,
Adam

But if he really wants the 880, it would make no sense to get the 780...
The 780 would be great for those who don't plan to upgrade for a long time, but to buy it for just 1-2 months, I don't think it's a good idea...

It all depends on the amount of money you can get, though. If you have no tight financial limits, then you could get the 780, sell it later, and get the 880. But that would invovle a big money loss...

Wait it out until more info is released. It could be that Nvidia will announce the 880 series will be out in a few weeks, or they could announce that delays can't be avoided and it will be next year that they're released.

If I were in your position I'd most definitely wait until more info is available.

Don't buy the 780, you would en up losing a lot of money on the resell...
Even if you're completely desperate, it would be better to get a cheap budget card (260x or less) to play some games on low settings to pass the time, and resellt that.
Proportionally, the price drop would be similar, but as it's a lot cheaper, you would en up losing a lot less money.
Wait for the 880, if it's maxwell then the temps and power usage will be great!
I'm thinking of waiting for the 880 and get a reference (I really lilke the green led logo), because if it's power consumption is as low as expected, then temps wouldn't be a big problem, and the reference cooler would be able to handle it perfectly even overclocked...
