Hello folks,

Straight question: Which setup performs better (new-gen games)? The much cheaper CPU with a better GPU or the i5 with a less powerful GPU? My objective is purely single-player gaming at 900p.

FX-6300 + MSI R9 280 (non X) Gaming = $ 1.305,13 ($ 322,90 + $ 982,23)
i5-4460 + MSI R9 270X Gaming = $ 1.372,03 ($ 589,90 + $ 782,13)

PS:This is brazilian money

Thanks in advance

Looks like your title is incorrect - you switched the GPUs. Go for the i5 and the 270X - better smoothness and almost the same framerates.

Depends on what your primary games type is. For heavy cpu or single thread type like MMO's, Skyrim etc, you're better off with the i5/270x. For games that are heavy gpu and little cpu or optimised for multi-core, like BF4 or watchdogs, you're better off with the fx/280 combo.

You are correct jessterman... I accidentally switched the GPUs on the title. I apologize.

As for the games, I intend on playing DA Inquisition, Witcher 3, GTA V, future Mass Effect...mostly RPGs.
