I want to upgrade the wireless card in my Hp laptop. I'm not getting the download speeds on my new laptop that I'm getting on my old one. I get 100mbps down on my old laptop (Hp) and my new laptop (Hp running windows 8.1) only gets around 35mbps, and it's actually closer to my router. I've read that Hp can be pretty specific on which wireless cards are compatible. Any recommendations on what I can use. The Hp is a Pavilion 17-e017dx. AMD A8-5550M APU processor, Realtek RTL8188EE 802.11b/g/n adapter. I want to updrade/replace because even though this computer is still under warranty, Hp support (the people who told me that my wireless card must be faulty) said I have to run recovery on the laptop and go back to factory state in order for them to send me a replacement wireless card. To me it's just easier to buy a new, hopefully better one. Any advice would be appreciated. Thanks

How can you get 100mbps. Are using internet or sharing files between systems. If using internet check speed on speedtest.net and if copying file then windows will show the speed.
.
Though you have WLAN b/g/n connectivity so no problem on that. Just ensure you have more than 25gb of empty space. and your computer is free of viruses and your internet is not being used by others users or applications.
.
Your lan is 10/100 base only. For 10/100/1000 base you can use a usb lan supporting the 1000 base also.
