Hey guy, i would greatly appreciate any help with this. My pc is a desktop with a GTX 650 i5-3350p @ 3.10GHz, 64 bit, with windows 8. I have read that lower end graphics cards cannot handle certain monitors. Before making my decision which i plan on making within the hour (picking it up at best buy) i would like to find out if one of these 2 are more reliable than the other and if my comp can handle it. Choice one, Dell 23" ips led hd 7ms on sale for 1
$144 product number is s2340m. Choice two, HP 23" ips led hd 7ms on sale for $149. Both were around the price of $230 before going on sale. They both come with a one year warranty which i assume that if it breaks or fails (without physical damage) they will fix or replace it....? Thanks for any help.

Hello again,

it's down to personal preference to be honest. I for one can't stand consoles or the idea of playing using a TV. I've always played my games on PC (although my wife has an Xbox 360) and I've always been picky about my monitors (as much as I can afford it of course).

I'm not sure if in Best Buy you can see a monitor out of the box (I'm not from the US) but if there was a show room of some kind I think the best idea is to go there and take a look at the monitors they have on display. You will then be able to pick the one that really appeals to you personally.

And back to your question, no, 7ms is not exactly terrible :)

Hello there,

if you wanted to play games on your PC I would suggest you buying a monitor lower response time. The 2 you have listed have both 7ms response time. Ideally for a gaming PC (especially if you are going to play first person shooters) you would want something with 2ms or lower.

If however you are not planing on playing that many games you could be fine even with higher response time. I wouldn't advice on buying HP monitors though - just personal opinion.

Thanks for the response. I do intend to play games. I have been a console player for years so I'm not very picky about my graphics. I just want a crisp picture and all that. If I went down to a 5ms I would have to go down to a 21.5" rather than 23". I am buying from BestBuy so my options are what they have. So a 7ms would be terrible?

Got it. Ok thank you very much.

The Dell is a glossy screen while the HP 23Xi is a matte screen. (I assuming it is the HP Pavilion 23Xi.)
So you may have to play around with the lights with the Dell depending on your lighting conditions.

The HP comes with a HDMI whilst the Dell doesn't, this can bother you or not depending on what you plan to use the monitor for.

I don't see any problems with the monitors working with your pc.
They are both even in terms of their product.
