Exasperated and would appreciate help. After upgrading my son's XP to Win 7 32 Bit all video plays back choppy and out of sync whether YouTube or direct from computer. Video was never choppy on XP. My RAM is maxed out at 2.50GB, can't add more.

Radeon X300/X550/X1050. Microsoft says I have latest driver but it is signed 4.25.2009. I can get this driver from the AMD site driver configuration tool: 14-4-win7-win8-win8.1-32-dd-ccc-whql.exe but it fails on install every time. Control Catalyst won't install.

Other people suggested to put the Flash Player into Protect Mode:0 but that didn't solve the issue. In fact I have Flash Player uninstalled and the issue still occurs.

Any helpful ideas? MEGA thanks cause a computer that can't play video is somewhat worthless.

That is surely the problem
P4 ate truly terrible CPUs
XP was first released in 2001 and copes better
Videos would not run smoothly on vista on my old celeron d either

You need to upgrade your computer. Your specs are highly outdated for Windows 7.

I thought I read the specs that said it was ok for Windows 7?

Windows says these are the requirements...

1 gigahertz (GHz) or faster 32-bit (x86) or 64-bit (x64) processor [I have 3Ghz 32-bit]
1 gigabyte (GB) RAM (32-bit) or 2 GB RAM (64-bit) [I have 2.5]
16 GB available hard disk space (32-bit) or 20 GB (64-bit) [I have 596GB]
DirectX 9 graphics device with WDDM 1.0 or higher driver [I have DX 11]

Is there anything I can do to this machine?

Thanks.

Yes it meets the requirements but it still uses more resources. So while it works it eats up enough resources to make video not play well
The minimum requirements for XP is 64 MB of RAM but it isn't usable with that

Wish Microsoft would have been more transparent that even though my machine exceeded minimum requirements that it would choke. Thanks everyone for the truth even though it was bad news.
