Hello there,

Just a quick expert opinion request. Which one of these two sets is better for Autodesk Maya, After Effects, Photoshop?

1-

Board:
GIGABYTE GA-990FXA-UD5 AM3+ AMD 990FX SATA 6Gb/s USB 3.0 ATX AMD Motherboard

Graphic:
FirePro W700

2-

CPU:
INTEL Core i7-4960X Extreme Edition

Board:
ASUS Rampage IV Black Edition LGA 2011

Graphic:
PNY Quadro K4000 Kepler
or
GeForce GTX 780 Ti

Any further advice will be appreciated.

#2 is a good start. The 9590 was a big flop, and the 4690x is exponentially faster (especially with hyperthreading).

#3 option is wait for the x99 platform to come out next month with DDR4 and the new intel octa-cores. It will be pricey, but faster than anything available currently.

I can't really comment on the Quadro card. You might be better with a Titan over either.

Vote is for #2

Don't bother with the FX9000 SERIES CHIPS.

The 4960X is tons better, the AMD chips were nothing more than a 'claim to fame' that they had the fastest 'stock' CPUs on the market, they were a joke, a 4770K at stock outperformed these things and AMD knew it which is why there weren't any sent out for review, if they had been reviewed, don't think anyone would have bought them....as it was the places that did buy them to review provided appropriate reviews and the prices dropped by over half in short order

FX 9000 series is like putting a Volcano on your board.

This is a clear consensus! So Intel is the way to go.

Thanks, Adroid, for the advice to wait. I already read about x99 somewhere but thought it would take forever to be available. I'm happy I am wrong! I can wait.

Thank you guys!
