Need help understanding my PSU's ports...

First of all, this is my build: http://pcpartpicker.com/user/JClyde13/saved/st8bt6

This is my first PC build, and I've gotten most of my parts now (I'm waiting for the graphics card, a case fan, and an SSD to get shipped), so I began building it today, and I realized that my Corsair CX500M PSU just has three 6-pin ports labeled "Peripheral & SATA" and one 8-pin port labeled "6+2 PCI-E & 4+4 CPU." I don't actually know exactly what any of this means, but it seems that the 6-pin ports are for my storage drives and optical drive, and the 8 pin, I'm guessing, will be for my graphics card? The problem is, I have an SSHD and an optical drive taking up two of the SATA ports, and once my SDD comes in, I assume that will use the third. But I will need to buy a fan controller to be able to use the extra case fan I bought, which would require an extra port, right (there are only 3 connectors on my motherboard for fans, and the case came with 3 fans already installed)? And this would mean that my PSU isn't going to work for me if I want to do this, let alone adding any other hardware later on? Or am I missing something?

What confuses me further is that the product page for this PSU lists all of the following connectors under the specifications:
1 x 24pin main connector
1 x 8pin EPS12V CPU
2 x PCI-E
5 x SATA
4 x Peripheral
1 x Floppy

I know at least the 24-pin and the 8-pin at the top of the list are the two cables that are permanently wired into the power supply (it is semi-modular), but there definitely aren't 12 more ports in this power supply...

Solution
You probably already found where the 24pin goes.
The 8pin EPS12V gets plugged into the motherboard near the CPU. This is the 4+4 cable.
The PCI-E is for your graphics card. This is the 6+2 cable.
The Sata are for your hard drives / optical drives.

You mention that it only has 3 SATA ports. If I am understanding you right, you are talking about the ports on the PSU itself. The cable that would plug into that port typically has multiple connectors. I.e., you can connect multiple drives on one cable.

Yes, I have already plugged in all of my current components to where everything seems to run appropriately when I plug it in and turn it on. The 24 pin and 8 pin are plugged in, and the optical drive and sshd are plugged into the two 6-pin ports (on the psu itself). There is one free 6-pin and one free 8-pin on the psu itself right now. But it seems like I am going to need one more 6-pin port on the psu in order to power all my hardware, since I plan on getting a fan controller (which, I think, will have a 6-pin?).

The SATA power cable that goes from your HDD to the PSU should have multiple connectors on it. You can use that one cable to power multiple drives all on the same cable. Also, since you didn't mention it I just want to confirm. You need to have a 6+2 cable from the PSU to your graphics card. I believe the 760 needs two 6pin connectors (you use the 6+2 cable and just leave the +2 hanging)

As for your fan controller, it will depend on the model, but I believe most of them get power from the 4-pin molex connectors.

Ohh, alright, I understand now... As for the Molex connector, could that connect to the 4-pin places on my motherboard labeled "sys_fan1" and "sys_fan2?" Or are those different connectors? I don't see anything else with 4 pins in my system...

I believe all PSUs come with 4pin peripheral connectors like the one in the picture. It may be black

A fan controller typically gets its power from one of these, and then a second connection that goes from the fan controller into the sys_fan 4pin port on the motherboard.

The 4pin peripheral connector in your case looks like the cable 2nd from the right in this picture

Okay, yeah I just found the molex connector in the box my psu came in. It looks like it plugs into the psu, as well as one of the 4-pin fan connectors on the motherboard... so if I used this connector with a fan controller, would all of the fans plug directly into the controller instead of the motherboard?
