What Graphics Card should I get?

OK, I recently built my first gaming PC and I am looking to upgrade.
My Specs are:
AMD a-10 5800k CPU
A78M-E35 FM2+ motherboard
550W Thermaltake PSU
1 stick of 8gb RAM @1600
1TB Hard Drive
Cougar Spike Mini ATX Gaming Case

Now, I understand that getting an APU wasn't the smartest thing to do, but I already did it. Now, I am deciding what GPU to get. I have a little over $300 saved up to upgrade. I am not sure if I should upgrade my RAM to 16gb because I do editing with Sony Vegas and I have started to use Cinema 4D. But that is another $90. So, what GPU should I get and should I upgrade my RAM. I have a budget of $300 but I would want to spend the least amount of money possible. I want to play games like Battlefield 3, Saints Row 3, Far Cry 3, and most games that are coming out within the next year or so at Medium settings.
Thanks

Well you could get an r9 270X for 200$. Then get the RAM for that 90$

What about the r9 270 and no RAM. This is what i was leaning towards. I am trying to save as much money as possible. Am I going to see that big of a difference between the r9 270x and the r9 270? And will the 16gb of RAM change gaming performance. I am mainly aiming towards gaming, because as of now, my software performance is perfect.

Your extended ram wont do much when it comes to gaming.
8Gb is enough for a gaming PC.

Ram is only important if you have big projects in rendering, movie effects, etc.

the 16gb wont change gaming performance however rendering and editing will be much faster. you could try a ssd(77$ for 120gb) instead of the ram it still will give performance. a r9 270 is the best you can get to play ultra and 60fps. the r9 270 is just a underclocked r9 270x.

Lets see, you're focused on gaming.
Your RAM is fine although I just like 2 Ram chips cause they look better.

So lets see what the card should be.
How desperate are you for high quality?
How much of that $300 bucks would you spend without much hesitation?
Do you have sensitivity to heat and noise?
What color underwear?

I am not that desperate for high quality, but more FPS. Even High Settings at over 60fps is perfect for me.
I am willing to spend $250 just on the GPU, and that is a lot of money for me.
Not at all, I game with a constant fan in my window, so noise does not bother me.
I do not see how that is relevant......

for a good gpu you should get a r9 280x(275$) or a r9 280(200$) and get a ssd with the r9 280 or some more ram. also dont mix 1x8gb with another 1x8gb

i am mainly worried about gaming, so is an SSD necessary? Are you sure that I will get that good of a performance with the r9 280x that it is worth $275. I have a Xbox One to play all the new games, I got the PC to play games that are not on my console, such as older games.

te r9 280x runs all games(not crysis or metro but you know) on ultra, AA, on with some tessalation at 60fps. the ssd just speeds up boot times and rendering/editing.

What about all games at High with no AA at over 60fps, with the r9 270x work?

never get a r9 270x the r9 280x is way better and just the same/even less in price(189$).

your resolution is lower than most and it will work well. You should just get the r9 280 for 190$. It will play ultra and can play 60fps+
