my ping has gone up from 35 to 39-43 in the past two days. This is concerning to me, but my internet has also been very sporadic lately. The internet keeps on going out and saying limited for short amounts of time. Are these two related? I just thought that the cantankerous internet might be affecting my ping. I really just want to know what is going on.

Solution
Assuming ddos is a giant leap there and definitely not the case.
If that ping is really affecting you (mainly applied to online gaming area), try contacting your ISP to resolve it.
Could possibly be other devices using your connections bandwidth too or maybe common malware leeching bandwidth
If you are on wifi connection, try cabled to router directly? This will rule out wifi signal issues

If you're being DDOS'd it'll only occur for that short time nothing spanning over two days. They just send tons of files & useless junk to your modem to overload it and make it basically crash. Very unlikely your being DDOS'd unless you really angered someone on a game or are some big shot on an online community. Not sure whats causing your problem though

I would first think would anyone want to ddos me then go from there. But before you get any ideas contact your ISP (Internet service provider) because there may have been a down server or something and they may have had transferred where you are receiving your internet. Then make your decisions other than that you cant tell but maybe your ISP can so also let them know and they can backward track all traffic to your network.

A DDOS attack usually happens through a program like skype where someone has your IP address. If you have had this happen, you will know because your internet and PC will basically become locked out for a short period of time. You can reset your modem or router or both and see if that helps.
