I need help picking a processor intel core i5-4590 or AMD FX-8150

I am in the process of building a computer and need help choosing a processor. The Intel i5 is a quad core 3.3 GHz processor, and the Amd Fx is a 8 core 3.6 GHz processor yet it is $30 cheaper.
In my head this seems to be a one way argument with the Amd processor wining, but i personally am new to the whole thing and don't know if there are any drawbacks to either of the two.
Please give me advice. Thank you in advance.:)

i5, it has a higher IPC meaning it can do more at a lower clock rate, the Intel wins in almost every game and is newer , consumes less power and has more upgrade options on the socket.


Though it does depend on if you need the extra threads

EDIT: Sorry, never mind, I see avenseth got here first :)

and the FX won't perform better even with things that require 8 threads http://www.anandtech.com/bench/product/434?vs=701
