Differences in performance are marginal, but of the two you linked, the GT 740 with 2GB of GDDR5 VRAM versus the 650 with 1GB, the GT 740 will have the edge in gaming.

but here, the gtx 650 wins: http://www.videocardbenchmark.net/compare.php?cmp[]=2883&cmp[]=2155
The problem with this comparison is that is doesn't state whether the 740 tested has 2GB DDR3, 1GB GDDR5, or 2GB GDDR5. Judging by the numbers, I'm guessing it's the DDR3 version. The 650 is slightly better than the 1GB GDDR5 version also, but slightly under-performs the GT 740 2GB GDDR5 version. Not surprising considering the 740 is basically a rebranded 650.
