Hi There,

Hoping someone with some knowledge of this could help me out.

I have an old flat screen monitor that has been pretty faithful for the past 8 years or so. However, in the last 6 months it's developed a fault.

The fault being that when I turn the monitor on, it powers up but nothing displays (it's clearly powered on and I hear that start up click). If I turn the monitor off and on many times it eventually "clicks" and the display works.

If I turn the monitor off again I have to rinse and repeat the above.

It seems to have become worse now and can take 20-30 "off/on's" to get it to come on.

I was curious if anyone could tell me what the actual fault is likely to be here and if I could repair it myself?

I appreciate it's probably best to get a new display but before I do that if this is repairable I'd like to have a go :)

Thanks!

Tom

google the model of the hardware and see if there repair or service guilds online. they help you replace the right part to fix your issue then just replacing parts till the error stops. with your unit start with buying some component cleaner and try cleaning the on/off switch to see if it a switch. if it not the on switch then there a bad cap in the power board of the unit.
