Dear Tom's hardware forum,
I am not very knowledgeable on this subject but i have two actiontech routers for Verizon and i want them to run on two separate network.
The reason I want to do this is because one router that I want off at night so i want them to be independent of each other.

Edit: All i am trying to accomplish is to have the 2 actiontech routers work independently from each other if they are both on or one is on and one is off. I want 2 routers but i do not wanna bridge them. I've been at this for days.

P.S Is this possible without a switch?

I just want the routers not to interfere with each other and be independent instead of bridging them.

By default it will not work. If you are using coax cables then it works similar to any other cable company. They only allow the device they have in their database to connect. If you are using the ethernet off the ONT it may only allow the first device don't know never tried this.

The main problem you have is to run these both independently you need ip addresses for both. ISP almost always make you pay for more than a single IP address. So the only way to really know if this can be done is to call verizon and ask them what type of service they can sell you that will let you accomplish this.

Any other solution you come up with on your own would require you to place a router on the verizon and then place 2 other routers behind it.
