My External Hard Drive (WD My Passport 500 GB) does not show up in my computer. First, I went to device manager and it said the there are no drivers installed. So, I went to the site and downloaded the driver for it. The driver installed successfully. And when i check on the device manager there are no more errors or problems to be found, driver is already installed and it said device is working properly. But when I checked in my computer, the hard drive still does not show up. I went to the disk management but I cant change the drive letter of it. Disk is not unknown and not initialized. I already restarted my laptop but nothing happened the device still does not show but it says device is ready to use when plugged in. What should I do now?

Solution
Try changing the letter assigned to that disk in the Disk Management console. I have a lot of external drives so find it happening occasionally and it always works every time, hopefully for you too, though not experienced it to show a different disk size

The options are "Help", "Properties and "Initialize". I tried to Initialize the disk but it says " The request could not be performed because of an I/O error".

It does not work on other computers as well. I've been using usb 2 but it still does not work even though i've tried all the ports it will not work still.

Additional Information: In the disk management, it is located at disk 0 and it says12 GB ( but my external hard drive is 500GB), Healthy, EISA Configuration.
