Here's the rig I'm building:
Motherboard: http://www.amazon.co.uk/gp/product/B00K872GHU/ref=gno_c...
CPU: http://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B00KPRWAX8/ref=ox_sc_a...
GPU: http://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B00K699CRW/ref=ox_sc_a...
Ram: 16gb ddr3 ( I'm 85% sure it's ddr3)
Hardrive: 1TB HDD
OS: windows 7
PSU: http://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B0045L4BJ6/ref=gno_car...

Will having fraps and the games on my HDD and recording them to a separate internal SSD help with Fraps' framerate?
I'm thinking about getting this: http://www.amazon.co.uk/gp/product/B00E3W15P0/ref=gno_c...

I might install Windows 8.1 on the SSD as well..

Thanks in advance! :)

no, that depends on your hardware, the ssd only helps with loading times

How come he's getting such better fps tho? :o

I think because Fraps drops frames to keep up with the recording getting written to the harddrive.
So I assumed that having a fast SSD would get rid of that problem.

Not sure tho :|

Hmm... That is intriguing, now that you put it that way, that may help? because your system may be slowing down to cope with the slower write speeds so data might be in a queue to get into the hdd maybe, hence slowing fps

Exactly :)  Think I'll get the SSD,at the very least..like you said,I'll have faster load/boot times.
Would you recommend putting Windows 8 on it as well? I won't be using it as my main drive tho.

Yes, by putting a os onto it, that will help you with your boot up times, i'd recommend the samsung evo 840 series or a intel ssd, don't get the kingston v300 series as they have some write/read problems

Yeah,this is the one I'm getting :)  http://www.amazon.co.uk/gp/product/B00E3W15P0/ref=gno_c...
And..is it alright to write alot of stuff to it? It'll be mainly used to write fraps files to,so will this break/degrade it quicker?

yes that's a good ssd, well you can write as much as you want as often as you want until you hit the memory limit , and no, it won't be damaged if you write to it frequently

:D DDDD Oh,and very last question!.. (I know I've overstayed my welcome lol)
Is it a good/safe idea to get an anti-static wristband for when I'm building it?

np I dm :)  If you have floorboards then you can just build barefoot, don't wear wool clothing and build on a wooden or granite table, if you only have carpet then you can get a wrist strap and attach it to your case, or you can just keep touching the case once in a while to discharge static

So I shouldn't build on a bed? seems fine then..I'll build on my wooden floor and roll up my sleeves. :)
Thanks for all the help! :)
