Having Lag Issues

Motherboard: GIGABYTE 990FXA-UD5 (rev.3.0)

Processor: AMD FX(tm)-9370 Eight-Core Processor 4.4GHz

Graphics Card: AMD Radeon R9 200 Series 4GB

Operating System: Windows 7x64

RAM: 16GB

From the reviews I can see that the components of my computer are fairly good, but when I play games such as 'Battlefield 4' I experience some lag issues, I would have thought that because I had good components that my computer would be able to handle a lot more then it seems to handle at the moment.

Couldn't have said it better myself.

Basically I'm guessing that your lag is caused by CPU throttling. This is either due to excess temperatures, voltages, or by features on your motherboard that are potentially causing undesirable effects.

Assuming that the h60 is keeping your FX below it's thermal limit (you can confirm this using AMD overdrive which reports your CPUs thermal margin) then something else is causing the CPU to throttle. All of the features I mentioned (including APM) are power saving features that may or may not be causing problems. If you find that the throttling (lag) goes away after making the changes then the next step is to re-enable the features one by one because ideally you want power saving features left on if they aren't causing problems.

Active power management can also be disabled in BIOS, it doesn't have to be done via overdrive.

No problem I'm really glad it's sorted, you have good hardware so you deserve to get the best out of it!

Any more trouble feel free to post here again or start a new thread :)
