So I managed to save up some money to upgrade my 3 years old budget pc: Core i3 560, OCZ 6GB DDR3 1333 CL7, GTX460 1GB, 550W PSU. The new build is supposed to hold on through next **AT LEAST 3 years** as I'm going to study motion graphics and animation now (so this is gonna be the thing I will spend my money on).

(just for reference: 1 EUR ~ 4,18 PLN)

I've picked myself these:

  • Core i5 4690K - ~870 PLN
    Asrock Z87 Extreme3 - ~400PLN
    Crucial Ballistix 16GB 1600 CL9 - ~500PLN
    Corsair VS 650W - ~220PLN
    Gigabyte GTX770 3X WF 2GB - ~1200PLN
Total of ~3200PLN

I'm gonna be using single, 23" screen, do 3d/2d renders and ofc gaming (BF4, GTA V when it comes, CSGO).

Here are the questions:

- At the moment I can buy mobo + cpu + ram. Is it worth doing it or I should wait untill ~january 2015 and gather enough $$$$ to buy everything at once?
- Should I go for 4th gen i5 or wait for the new gen to pop up?
- Is it really necessary to change my current Chieftec 550W PSU for this update? (in both cases, when I wait for all parts or buy only mobo + cpu + ram)
- Should I buy an aftermarket cooler for this i5 rightaway? Heard they like to heat up a lot. What are the good ones to look for?
- And the last one: can I get any better parts for really similar prices I listed? My budget is pretty tight.

Cheers and thanks in advance!

1, If you're willing to spend a bit more, you should wait for DDR4 RAM to come out and be fully utilized by CPUs. Like that, you can also save up more $$$.
2, You might want to change your PSU, it might/probably be outdated. Take a look:

3, If you OC, you should definitely buy one. If you don't, stock is fine. The Cooler Master Hyper 212 EVO is available for about 35$ USD.
4, Unless you do some heavy work, you might not need the 770. A 760 or even a 750 Ti would be good, although the 750 Ti isn't future-proof because it doesn't support SLI:(.
Hope I helped!

You might not need that much RAM at least for gaming, I only have 8gb of ram and it works wonderfully for games. I would recommend taking that money for the extra 8gb of ram and put it into getting more VRAM on your graphics card (4gb gtx 770).
Gigabyte says that a 600 watt power supply is needed for their GTX 770 so yes a PSU upgrade should be done.
If you intend on overclocking I would recommend getting an after market cooler for your CPU. The Hyper 212 evo worked awesome for my 4670k at moderate overclocks (up to 4.4ghz).
As for better parts I would recommend getting a z97 instead of a z87 if you can find one within your price range. I am not sure if you can put a 4690k directly into a z87 board without doing a bios update first which requires a CPU of the previous generation to perform. Something you might want to check up on.
Also the next generation of i5 will only be a die shrink so it will not be that much of an improvement over the 4690k besides power an heat. So a 4690k would be a good choice unless you want to wait a couple years or want to spend more money on something like the new Haswell-E that is coming out.

from my own experience I know that 16GB is pretty much the average amount for using Adobe AE/PS and other heavy demanding software while 4GB Vram is an overkill for single 1920x1080 screen

as I said don't think I wanna spend more cuz my budget is really tight.
