Repairing Win 7

Hello,
Last night I went to go play Skyrim and the load screen sat there for awhile. I looked over at the Windows Task Manager and my Physical Memory Usage was @ 3.4gb. I run a heavy modded skyrim and that should have been at 7gb at the least by that point of loading the game and my CPU at 90%. So I shut it down and started to trouble shoot.

I ran 3DMark to test my Graphics Card (3gb) and it passed. So I tried a reboot and did a memory test, the test and Bio's showed I had 8gb of ram. All drives are running, etc.

So I tried to restore my Windows to earlier point and all save points were corrupted. The repair program errors out. I downloaded all the new drivers and installed them, but my ram sits at 3.4-3.6gb no matter what I do or run. I tried going into the memory and setting it to max 8192, but only shows 7147 total Physical Memory in Task Manager. Doing any F8 start options or safe mode did not help.

I am not sure if a virus or something is causing this or a faulty Mobo?

I am currently in Texas on a contract job and my Win 7 64bit disk is in storage in another state. So is there an option online to download or repair Win 7? I have my sticker on the side of my PC if I need my key. I am at a lost atm and not sure what options I have to finding out what is wrong or how to fix it. I believe some how Windows got corrupted and I just need to repair or reformat...

PC specs: i5-2500K Sandy 3.3GHz | 7950 3GB 384-bit | G.SKILL Sniper 8GB | Win 7 HP 64-bit

So what steps should I take?

1) Find a way to repair Win 7
2) More testing?
3) Its a Virus? I am using free Avast antivirus (Is this any good?)

I been work on this all night and a lil out of it so excuse me if I forgot something. Any help would be great. I do not get payed for 3 1/3 more weeks..

Much Thanks ahead of time.

/Cheers

Hello... after a new install of Windows 7 you will need to turn off CPU "Core parking" http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=pl3u9eiskM4
I am not a Skyrim player, and thus cannot give you any helpful information there... try posting another Question.
I feel you CPU Temperature might need attention... But this is Summer and depending on your location and Room temperature, can run hotter... As a simple test remove a cover off your case and see if if temperatures drop some or alot.
If you can, I would apply/re-apply thermal paste to your CPU and Heatsink/Fan.
Hello... each Windows version/disc is different " Win7′s no-reformat, nondestructive reinstall " ... it seems that you have to do a Upgrade install from within Windows, by running the setup file from your Disk. there are many example on youtube for you to view.
http://windowssecrets.com/top-story/win7s-no-reformat-n... Here is a one page walk though it.

Did you recently do online Upgrade? try un-installing any recent upgrades? in your Programs and Features App.

Ok tried to do the Microsoft Win 7 USB/DVD download Tool and get:

Error reading from file
C:\Users\Canlocu\AppData\Local\Temp\IXP000.TMP\Wudt.msi. Verify that the file exists and that you can access it.

:(

So I tried this method:
http://www.maximumpc.com/article/howtos/how_to_install_windows_7_beta_a_usb_key?page=0,1

And got up to the point of "bootsect.exe /nt60 H:" and it does not work.

Any idea what is going on?

EDIT: Ok found this: http://answers.microsoft.com/en-us/windows/forum/windows_7-windows_install/where-to-find-dowload-for-bootsectexe/3561ddce-4847-4c33-864e-e6f5b47df009

And got the file I needed for the bootsect.exe

Now off to reformatting!!

Well did a full clean install. But Skyrim and other games are not using more then 4gb. I am at a lost.

Is there away to test my hardware to see if it is working properly. A program of something? Because only thing I can think of is either my Mobo, Vcard or ram is showing it is working but is not fully running.

Hello... after a clean install you need to re-install programs for them to work properly with the new Windows registry file that was created. Take the time to do it right... so as to leave no doubt that any Software/Files are not the problem, when tesing your hardware.

Hello...Thank you... your WEI Numbers are to be expected with your hardware...
Time to load programs and have FUN!!!
Remember..." If it Ain't Broken, Don't try to FIX IT !!! "
So... Don't Upgrade you Fresh copy of Windows With UPDATES, Programs. and FILES that you don't need!!!
Resist all attemps by Microsoft, AMD, Adobe, Skype, Etc... TO UPGRADE or UPDATE... Don't press" OK" on that Icon, on your screen.

It is still broken is my point. My ram will not go past 50-60% and looks like my graphics card is hovering around the same percent even though CCC is saying it is 100%.

Is there something that would hamper or restrain my ram and vram? A hardware issue maybe.

Hello... You have to multiply ( in your Mind ) any DDR2 or DDR3 numbers for actual...
2 x 800 = 1600 memory speed.

Also there are 3 stages of Video card performance settings... the High levels/speeds will be turned on once you have a 3D program running... Window screens will be your lowest setting/Speed of Video card performance...This for Energy Savings.

Your Power Supply reported low voltage 12vDC is the only thing I noticed, Software can mis-report values here, a VOLTmeter check will verify your true Voltage... But you would have not made it through the WEI test if that was True...
TIme to LOAD PROGRAMS and Have FUN!!! B )

I tried to run my normal Skyrim build and it would not even boot load screen. So started a new game with just SKSE and a few texture packs for some load. There was a lot of artifact seems and looked like crap. The load is far below what I normally run on this PC. I run ENB, 2k textures and 300+ mods with no issues. So something is up.
